Choosing the right colour can be one of the most difficult decisions when designing your new kitchen. Not only do you want a colour that you really like, but it should also go well with the floor, walls, worktops and the soft furnishing… And if that wasn’t enough maybe you also need to consider the potential resale of the property and what would appeal to potential buyers.

White has been a popular and very safe choice for quite some time. Lately however, grey has started to emerge as an increasingly popular alternative to white.

Grey is a beautiful and fantastically versatile colour that can be matched with almost any other colour, depending on the shade of grey that you use. Light grey cabinets can be combined with dark grey worktops and vice versa. Different shades of grey can be used for different parts of the kitchen, such as a light grey kitchen with a dark grey island. Grey can also be spiced up with some fun accessories, such as a brightly coloured splashback or tiles.

Shown here is one example of a beautiful dark grey kitchen with light worktops. Also, if you haven’t seen it, The English Home features this kitchen in its January issue, see the article here.
