The Timeline
Be Inspired
1-2 Weeks
Run your fingers over the rich textures of our carefully selected wood grains, feel the cool elegance of aged brass, and look inside our drawers and cupboards and explore their smooth functionality. Enjoy the view from the island and admire the unique patterns and finishes of our stone surfaces. While you are there, take a moment to discover the clever solutions and beautiful bespoke details that make our kitchens truly one-of-a-kind.

A Personal Consultation
1-2 Hours
We understand that the purchase of a new kitchen is a big decision. It should look great for a long, long time (the first kitchen is often the last kitchen that many Scandinavians own), it should be functional, and it should work for each person or family's individual circumstances.
Our design process begins with a consultation with one of our experienced designers, who will be your personal contact throughout your project.
During that meeting, the designer will ask you lots of questions so they can understand more about you and your home, and how you use or hope to use your kitchen - for instance, do you bake? Do children use the kitchen? Do you entertain there, or use it as a home office? How do you like to store your crockery, in cupboards or in drawers? – and what sort of look or style you have in mind.
They will also ask you if the kitchen is part of a larger renovation or new building project, in which case they will want to see your architect's drawings as well as any pictures of kitchens that have inspired you, and hear about your thoughts regarding materials, colours, special features and any particular fixtures and fittings that you might already have in mind or want to include.
We will also have a good discussion about budgets, discuss the project timeline, and book you in for the next step which is the Design Presentation meeting.
The Design Presentation
1-2 Weeks
When these are all ready, your designer will arrange a meeting with you in one of the showrooms so they can present the design concepts to you, face-to-face.
With the drawings in front of you, they will tell you about their proposed design in detail, discuss different options and go through the itemised quotation.
Once you have made the decision to commission the kitchen, and paid the commissioning deposit, we will release all the drawings and perspective pictures to you to take home.
From that point, we will continue to work with you to make any changes to the design and drawings and go through every detail to make sure everything is correct before the kitchen is ordered.
Measuring Up & Final Checks
3-4 Weeks
At this point, a dedicated installation manager will be appointed to your project, who will plan and book the delivery and installation dates with you. The installation manager will liaise with you and/or your own project team, and also with Sola Kitchen's Ordering Team, which checks every single tiny detail of your kitchen design before it is finally handed over to the workshop, where it is to be made for you.
If the kitchen is to be installed by your own team, we will ask you and/or your build team to confirm all the measurements shown on the drawings before the kitchen is ordered.
Making Your Kitchen
14-16 Weeks
All our kitchens are made by hand in our workshops in Sweden and Britain - every single item is truly bespoke as it is handcrafted precisely to the specifications given in your order; no standard or off-the-peg pieces are used – and it usually takes 14 to 16 weeks before your kitchen is ready to be transported to your home and be installed.
Installation
4-6 Weeks
If your kitchen is to be installed by one of Sola's specialist carpenters, they will do so with the utmost care and attention to detail.
The installation usually takes an average of 4 to 6 weeks. The first stage will be when the more complex pieces of cabinetry are put in, which can take a couple of weeks. Once these are in place, Sola's specialist stone mason will template (measure) for the stone worktops.
Once that is done, the production of the worktops usually takes another couple of weeks. Meanwhile, the carpenters will continue with the installation of the remaining cabinetry.
If the kitchen is to be painted by hand, that can usually start before the worktops arrive.
With the stone installed, the plumber and electricians can be scheduled to come and connect the sinks, taps and appliances. The carpenters may also need to come back and finish any work still outstanding (snagging) and to adjust certain elements such as the drawers and doors.
Once their work has been signed off by the installation manager as complete, the kitchen will be handed over to you.
