Personal Consultation
The dream kitchen takes a lot of thought…
We understand that the purchase of a new kitchen is a big decision. The kitchen should look great for a long time, be functional and work for each person or family’s individual circumstances.
We kick off the design process with a Design Consultation with one of our experienced designers, who will be your personal contact throughout your project. For the initial Design Consultation we need room plans or dimensions, such as architect drawings as well as any pictures of kitchens, details or colours you like which will give us an idea of what you would like to achieve.
During the Design Consultation we will ask you lots of questions about how you use your kitchen to ensure that we create a design that works perfectly for you. We will discuss how much you cook and what sorts of meals do you like cooking? Do you bake? Do children use the kitchen? Do you want to socialise and entertain in the kitchen? Is the kitchen used for other activities such as children’s homework or parents’ office area? Do you prefer to store your plates and cups in drawers or in cupboards? How much larder space do you need and where will the toaster and coffee machine live?
These are just some of the questions we will discuss during the Design Consultation to make sure we understand your unique set of requirements. Understanding the way you use your kitchen is imperative in order to create a truly bespoke, practical and beautiful kitchen which works for you.
During the first Design consultation we will also discuss budget, the project timeline and book you in for a Design Presentation meeting.
Design Presentation
After the Initial Design Consultation, it takes one to two weeks to design your kitchen in our specialist drawing programme, request pricing for items such as worktops and appliances and preparing your plans, elevations, perspective pictures and quotation ready to present to you.
During the presentation of your kitchen, we will go through the drawings and talk you through in detail the proposed design as well as going through the itemised quotation for your kitchen.
Once you have made the decision to commission the kitchen and paid the commissioning deposit, we will release all your drawings and perspective pictures for you to take home.
After the kitchen has been commissioned we will continue working with you to do any changes to the drawings as well as going through all the details of the kitchen to make sure everything is correct and complete.
measuring and checks
When the kitchen has been commissioned, we will arrange for a site visit to make sure that all the measurements and details are correct before the kitchen is ordered.
An installation manager will be appointed to your project who will plan and book the delivery and installation slots and liaise with you and your team throughout the project to ensure it runs smoothly.
If the kitchen is installed by your own team we will ask you and / or your build team to confirm all measurements on the drawings before the kitchen is being ordered.
Production of your bespoke kitchen
Once we have confirmed all the measurements and other details the production of the kitchen cabinetry can start!
All our kitchens are handmade in our workshops and every single item will be handcrafted exactly to the specification in your order.
The making of your kitchen takes 10-12 weeks before it is shipped for installation in your house.
Our workshops use the highest of quality of all materials, from the sustainable wood we use to the best available soft close drawer runners and cupboard hinges.
Fit for life
When your kitchen is ready in the workshop the installation manager will be in touch to arrange the delivery. A couple of weeks later your kitchen which will arrive at your doorstep ready to be installed.
If your kitchen is to be installed by one of Sola Kitchens’ specialist carpenters, they will pay the utmost attention to carefully installing your new kitchen.
The installation of a kitchen takes on average 4-5 weeks. We start with installing the cabinetry which usually takes a couple of weeks before the kitchen is ready to be templated for the stone worktops by our specialist stone mason.
After the worktop templating the production of the stone worktops takes approximately 2 weeks. While the worktops are being made, the carpenters will continue with the installation. If the kitchen is hand painted, the painting can usually start while waiting for the worktops.
When the worktops have been installed, the plumber and electricians can be scheduled to connect up the sinks, taps and appliances. The carpenters may also need to come back to finish any carpentry work and look over eg adjustment of drawers and doors to make sure everything is correct.
Your kitchen is nor ready to be used! Enjoy!
